Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is an antioxidant compound that is produced naturally in the body. It can also be obtained via dietary sources such as red meat, organ meats, spinach, broccoli, potatoes, yams, carrots, beets, and yeast. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a vitamin-like substance used as a primary clinical nutrient in several areas of complementary care. ALA supports blood sugar metabolism and increases insulin sensitivity. In diabetic neuropathy, ALA improves blood flow to peripheral nerves with the goal of stimulating nerve fiber regeneration. In heavy metal toxicity, ALA is used for its free-radical scavenging qualities and its mechanism for improving glutathione levels in the body
Daily Dose
Dose: 300mg
Direction of use:
1-2 capsules daily, preferably with a meal.

Possible side effects
Alpha-lipoic acid appears to be generally well tolerated when used orally, intravenously, or topically. No serious adverse reactions have been reported for oral Alpha Lipoic Acid. Side effects are generally rare and may include insomnia, fatigue, diarrhea, and skin rash. Severe cholestatic hepatitis has been reported in a patient who was taking Alpha Lipoic acid for the symptomatic treatment of Diabetic neuropathy; symptoms resolved when using the product was stopped.
